Loretta Devine
Loretta Devine is one of the original cast members of the Tony-award winning musical, "Dreamgirls." She played the character Lorrell, the same character that Anika Noni Rose played in the movie version in 2006.
Devine, since starring in that musical, has become a rather successful movie and television actress, probably moreso than either Jennifer Holiday and Sheryl Lee Ralph, the other two principals in the Broadway play.
Ms. Devine has been featured in such films as "The Lottery Ticket", "For Colored Girls", "Dirty Laundry", "Madea's Big Happy Family", "This Christmas", Death at a Funeral", "Jumping the Broom", and "Waiting To Exhale", just to name a few. Her notable television appearances include the following, but not limited to, "Everybody Hates Chris", "Boston Public", "Eli Stone", and "Grey's Anatomy."
She can also be seen in a very brief cameo-role in the film version of DREAMGIRLS...singing "I Miss You Old Friend", an original song from the Broadway musical.
